About The3DTravel

The three dimensions of a place

Most places are explained to us from somewhere else: a book read at home, the window of a tour bus, a guide you cannot quite hear over the crowd. We think a place teaches the most when you are standing in it, hearing what happened right there, and seeing what the years have made of it. That is what the 3D in our name means.

Place

Some things you only learn by being there: the height of a wall, the width of a lane, how close the fortress really sits above the market. So our tours keep asking you to look up. Start where you like, pause when you like, wander down a side street and come back. The city is the experience. We are the companion.

Story

Legends told as legends, and the dead named as people. Honor and respect for the people who suffered and built and loved and lost and brought forth new life, much as we do today, but also much differently than we do today. We work to bring forth and share what their stories have to teach us. Every walk is a question you carry through the city and answer on foot. Who were the fortress walls for? When Salzburg was afraid, who paid for it? Our stories have stakes, a payoff, and an ending that changes how you see what you just walked through. We report what the sources show, label what is disputed, and leave the conclusions to you.

Time

A place is everything it has gathered: centuries of people, choices, disasters and repairs. People have always judged a place by the stories and experiences it collects over time. Your visit is the newest of them.

A place is never static. There’s always something being built or torn down, and always some new want for something new to be built. Cities are alive as much as humans are alive, but in their own way. To bring their most current stories to you, we regularly review and adjust our tours for new discoveries, old facts brought into new light, and construction, because there’s pretty much always construction.

Who makes our tours

Our tours are researched and written with AI, under strict rules of evidence. Every fact traces to a published source, primary records wherever we can find them. A surprising claim needs two independent publishers before we tell it as fact. Separate checking passes review the claims and the storytelling. Then a human (actually a real person!) checks, verifies, and approves every tour before it is sold. The narration voices are AI-generated too, and we say so.

Where we are going

We want The3DTravel to become a living map of the places you’ve explored, the stories you’ve learned, the places you still want to see, and the cities you’re beginning to understand. Our walks began in Salzburg and now reach cities across Europe and in the United States.

We work to turn standing somewhere into understanding that somewhere.
